The setting for this gala evening is a candlelit dining room consisting of skirted tables for ten, individually decorated celebrating our ocean theme. From 5:00 to 7:00pm, guests will be treated to an abundant array of pupus and desserts located out on the lanai. And while dining or mingling with family and friends, guests will enjoy the relaxing music of Kevin and Ikaika Brown. For those wanting to shop for Hawaiian crafts or preview the evening's fashion designs, they may stroll through the craft area and also view a 3-D architectural rendering of our proposed new facility.
At 7:00pm, the show begins! On a second stage, our emcees will get the show underway as models take to the runway presenting fun-filled vignettes featuring the fashions of Sig Zane Designs, Hawaiian Force, Kapala˙ahu, Manuheali˙i, and Debbie Revilla. Entertainment will include the music of Uluwehi Guerrero. Special entertainers for the evening are the children and alumni of Punana Leo O Maui. Guests won't want to miss the auction of a one-of-a-kind Hawaiian quilt designed and quilted by nä ˙öhana o ka Pünana Leo O Maui - destined to become a treasured heirloom of the winning bidder.
Nä Leo Pülama's mission is to support the operations of Maui's Hawaiian language immersion preschool. One of ten such schools in the state, Pünana Leo O Maui is designed to perpetuate the Hawaiian language by educating children of all ethnicity, between the ages of three to five, completely in Hawaiian. Efforts this year focus on our capital fundraising campaign with the goal of building a new facility on 1.68 acres received last year in a grant from the County of Maui. Our new facility will enable us to double our current enrollment of 26 children and will also be available to the community as a center for use by other Hawaiian language and cultural groups via multi-purpose/meeting rooms, certified kitchen, media center and outdoor gathering space. We also look forward to offering more Hawaiian language classes to the Maui community.
The opportunity given to us to serve our children is
truly a privilege. Please join us in their quest for knowledge and the perpetuation of the
Hawaiian language. To purchase your tickets or to get more information, please call the
school at 244-5676.
